Tender Caresses

Tender Caresses …

With light fingertips, barely touching,

your caresses weave a glow about me,

behind glassed mirrors dark shadows threaten,

caresses so very mild –

banish them and make them go away.

Softly caresses play with eyelids,

touching so very mildly, stopping the flow of tears,

caresses lightly glance upon the lips,

they warn not to disclose this private moment –

as the heavens shine down a golden glow.

Caresses cross the forehead

and thoughts became crystal clear,

they softly pats the cheeks –

filling the heart with indescribable joy.

Caresses rest upon the arms,

a love that is ever true,

but they can be razor sharp,

that can cut from both sides –

life drifts away with caresses forgotten.

Caresses like firs seem to be evergreen,

but like the sharpest thorns,

they can prick and they can harm.

Even the mildest and passionate caresses –

can become as cold as winter snow.

So be careful of the softest caresses,

make sure they are given with smiling eyes,

with looks that are tender

and full of longing,

look toward those that are accompanied –

by a love so tender and true.

Don’t get lost in caresses,

for they can fade with time,

touch for touch,

keep answering,

so that once they have begun to glow –

love’s embers never get cold.
