Pig-Headed and Our Own Worst Enemy

Pig-Headed and Our Own Worst Enemy
Pig-Headed and Our Own Worst Enemy

Life can be pig-headed,
determined to have its way,
especially when we are refusing
to allay our fears and change,
so in the end we get dragged
across our circumstance,
flailing and resistant,
while life is stoic
and more than persistent;
we bleed, we complain,
cry injustice and blame,
yet it is we who in refusal,
try to escape the rain,
but what we don’t see,
is the necessity,
the truth and learning we so need,
and in that, life is nurturing,
though at the time
it feels like torturing.

Life is just flowing,
and creating the balances we
unknowingly disregard,
lost in the self and the mirage
we want to believe,
and so we administer pain to ourselves,
blind to our inadequacies,
our learning to solve;
and one way or another
the soul gets what it needs,
regardless of want, regardless of deeds,
to evolve into higher understanding,
our slow evolution,
our failures withstanding,
and resistance is puerile,
irrational fear so moot,
when life takes our hand,
and gives us the proof we require,
to see changing as the seed of our growth.

It seems we are the pig-headed ones,
life just following its preordained flow,
and when we let go of fear,
just surrender to change,
we rearrange our lives for the better,
and without struggle and resistance,
the pain disappears,
and change simply becomes a necessary challenge,
to be overcome on this journey of life.
