My Flight, Tumbling to the Ground

My Flight, Tumbling to the Ground
My Flight, Tumbling to the Ground

Ecliptic lows, eternal wake,
for all those mistakes
that take us on journeys,
not of our making, yet by our own hand,
and as dark clouds gather,
lightning striking, skies thundering,
I endure the harsh recompense
and pray for a break in the weather.

How imperfect my visions,
my supposition a chasm of despair,
aired in faith but let down in wake
of truth’s resolute stare,
and I kick myself for stupidity,
echoes a repetition of profundity,
and me forgetting the lessons learned,
a reprieve not earned as I stumble.

Life is not cruel, ’tis I the fool,
who sees not the mire I approach,
and proclivity rules my scope,
not seeing the forest for the trees,
and so I find myself wanting,
counting the lessons left to glean,
when I can dream of better days,
and better ways to be.

I note the highs do balance out the lows,
and often I attribute the cause,
but even more those highs dissipate
yet the lows do linger,
a natural effect I suppose,
but life is rewarding, when wisdom shines,
when learning reminds us of trouble averted,
and I’ll be gratified when that transfers to reality.

My name is human, warts and all,
and an excuse of sorts, tried and bought,
but the more I see the positive,
the easier life becomes,
as the more I doubt, the steam gets out
and my flight is tumbling to the ground,
so I get a little nervous for all my ploys and purpose,
trying desperately to conform.

And human you are, part of that great creation which brought us all together to learn, stumble, fall, and rise again – to see ourselves as we are, not infallible, but children of the Universe. Great work, Tony.
