I Am Curious But Will Never Understand

Curious the swagger of ill-intent,
the confidence they vent
for all their insecurities and ineptitude,
directed to punishment and to hurt others
more astute than they.
How wasted the energy,
a synergy of intent and pain
for no reasonable gain,
other than because they can,
in jealousy or caught out from the sham.
Curious their inability to see truth,
straight in front of them,
slapping them in the face,
cannot erase the delusions they belief,
in protection of their delicacy.
And why pretend,
when life is nothing they intended,
just an illusion of want, to grasp,
to hold as what they believe due,
even though they let themselves down.
But that truth cannot be faced,
for they are righteous,
and fated is their wants,
ill-gotten gains prompting them
to manipulate others to get their just deserts.
For me these souls stand out,
a glowing example of broken,
deluded in their expectations
and not one ounce of work,
for all they think they deserve.
I am curious how they live the lie,
conspire and contend with life,
expecting reward for their trouble,
and unhappiness always marks their strife,
their mislead minds one day to pay the price.

And the karma they create for themselves will hopefully let them see the errors of their way of life. Very well expressed verse, Tony.
Glad you enjoyed the work Phyllis. You kind words are always appreciated. Take care.
