Bound By Our Burdens

Hold onto what you have,
because for you it is a lifeboat,
and tethered you shall be,
when you can no longer float
and you sink into eternity,
yet freedoms call to me is more,
and floating above the clouds
to restore my broken wings,
a state I dream to be.
Here in this world,
laden we are with trivia,
possessions of shallow take,
and we attached to their glitter,
all that they mislead we are,
when they are but scars of delusion,
construed to honor our shell alone,
as prone we can be to ego’s flight,
that in irony keep us bound.
The soul accepts the burden of decisions,
the long and arduous plays
of cause and effect,
that we in learning pursue,
so often laden with pointless striving,
and viewed in time
as lying to ourselves,
and as time melds this sentient facet of being,
we eventually see.
Possessions are security,
an illusion of place,
when truly we are alone,
our worth the kindness and thoughts we bare,
the love and care we give to the world,
the true self exposed for what it is,
and no glittery veil can shine,
when light comes from within,
as truth cannot be maligned.
The burdens we bare
are our lessons unlearned,
just steps away from freedom,
and wanting more than this
is an illusion, a path we choose,
as we need to accept ourselves,
without all the pretense,
without all the shells of security
we think we need, in facing truth.

Love and kindness leads us on the right path to truths. Great work, Tony. I read your thoughts and hope more people will adopt the same on their path in life. Eventually, all your books will be in my personal library. Thank you for who you are.
Much appreciated Phyllis, just glad you related and find my work worthwhile, as I do our connection and friendship. Take care dear friend.
