Beware those Beguiling Souls

In a realm not far from here,
spirits rise in austere misgivings,
lost yet dark in all deception,
lies and guile their misconceptions,
and faces crafted to lure unwary
to deep despair and words contrary,
until they cause all manner of strife,
traps of hurt and strangled life,
they play their malicious games.
And those who dare to walk this plane,
susceptible in life’s refrain,
not yet dead and naught to gain
are touched by souls who want the same,
a return to physical life,
their intentions smeared with dark insights,
and trusted not these sycophants,
their plots of tricks and false events
just confuse and frighten souls.
And often in dreams souls slip away,
this dubious plane an unwelcome display,
as specters wander and in darkness play,
their mischievous games of fear,
and heartbeats thumping, pressure building,
they entreat then abuse in life force spending,
to bring to rack and ruin,
poor souls who stay attuned,
in this half-way house of spirits lost.
So when next you dream,
hold everything to heart,
don’t waver into realms apart
or play with beguiling souls,
for what’s real or dreamed consoles,
never in fear let nightmares swallow whole,
every morsel of your being,
always keep separate from death,
just the gleaning of the debts inside your mind.

Those malicious lost souls wreak havoc to weak souls in dreamland. They are demons of our own making, creating nightmares. The subconscious can turn our high stress issues, or negative people, into demons that torture our mind and souls. One must be aware, even in sleep, what the nightmares mean and how they came to be, and this will keep us on a safe plane, able to see a demon for what it really is – maybe an issue or negative person who is preventing us from doing what we want. I used to have horrible nightmares years ago, till I figured out the demon antagonizing me in dreams was caused by my thoughts of anger and pain from a co-worker who tried to undermine me in many ways. This verse is dark, Tony, yet ends with good advice. It kind of reminds me of a Shakespeare piece. Well done with great phrasing.
Glad you related and enjoyed the piece Phyllis, and appreciate your kind words. Take care.
