Where Truth Sees Not the Light of Day

Where Truth Sees Not the Light of Day
Where Truth Sees Not the Light of Day

A man judged from hearsay of accused sin,
or appearance, circumstance or chatter
within the crowd,
is never a guilty verdict, a conclusion
of words espoused,
simply a sharp blade of intention
without disclosure,
and in questioning the sin
one has to question the accuser,
for malice lives in the eyes of judgement,
and motives buried in lies.

Why do human beings attest the group,
so easily support lies to judge
that which they know nothing about,
just for the rush of group condemnation,
the shallow power of like minds
somehow uplifting,
and why in the shadow of truth
will people look so harshly on another,
regardless of proof,
surely forgiveness or at least reality
is kindness in undertaking.

I have seen this blight close up,
and still cannot fathom the ease
with which malice is ignited beyond truth or lies,
never to sympathize but stir minds to cause pain,
to blame without compassion,
and create evil in recompense
for purported sins not established in truth,
a hearsay orchestrated
by a mind of ulterior motive,
in response for some perceived wrong
imagined in their eyes only.

Yet still they find others to follow,
regardless of the obvious, contrived,
and blame and venting sweeps their collective minds,
to instill a wave of malicious harm,
directed to one poor soul,
innocent and wondering why;
this is the dark side of humanity,
the self-importance
and blame of irresponsibility,
brought to bare simply by opposition,
the possibility of revealing truth.

Very well expressed, Tony. I cannot fathom how some people can live in a perpetual role of maliciousness, continuing to hurt others. It seems the more people they can convince to believe their lies makes them the innocent. Great piece.
