Transcending Fear, a Better Way

Tales of woe echo in boundless landscapes,
in lands far from mind, far in time,
where I see in dreams the fray,
the battles of ambiguity,
no righteous quest held of heart,
nor oppression or disparity,
just the want for reckless intention,
and the grit of bloody war.
I strain to understand this stark truth,
that battles are waged for little reason,
and no matter culture or belief,
contention finds a path, a season;
sadly the culling of life and lands,
egos full and minds so aspiring demand,
a better way of life,
despite the damage they cause.
Perhaps we all in fear and worry,
find contention a device of placation,
yet the cost is far worse in escalation,
and surely life has value,
no matter what the world,
what the times demand,
peace would be the answer
to a way of life that transcends our fear.
War is the play of egos,
never a necessity of truth,
when one soul can hold hostage
a world, what chance have we got,
the ruse a fools show in reality,
and so it has always been, and
until our egos are put aside,
and a caring for all peoples seen.
Contention requires two souls,
one in offence, the other in response,
and no escalation can ensue,
when there is less than two,
so peace hangs on a premise,
that war is ill-conceived,
and peace what we are intending,
when egos are relieved, of duty.

It is hard to understand why everyone would not prefer peace. War never really solves anything for all – if one wins, the other side loses. Peace starts within each of us. Great work, Tony.
Thanks Phyllis, peace is all we aspire to and hopefully one day the world will find it. Cheers!
