Truth Means Nothing to Those Unwilling to Hear It

Truth Means Nothing to Those Unwilling to Hear It

A nightly seer, a hooded monk of stars appeared,
and we in awe peered up,
his face in shadow, his intent unclear,
yet he stands on planets,
cast asteroids like stones across a pond,
and in stature he is God,
yet pronounces no such thing.

The world awaited his words,
his obvious god-like verse
would be such honor to humanity,
and he so mighty to cast judgement
and wipe us from the map, if he so chooses,
yet in stillness he only vies to speak,
and earthy ears are pricked to listen
to pure transcendence.

‘Not enough sleep’, he says,
‘eat too much meat’,
‘a smile wouldn’t hurt’,
‘a simple kindness, so sweet’,
‘judgement, too narrow a perspective’,
‘peace, love, compassion already within’,
‘choices don’t make sense,’
‘violence an insult to potential’,
‘war, such ignorance’,
‘greed, so pathetic’,
‘and exercise more’,
‘bowel movements are important.’

No face was revealed,
he swept his sleeve across the sky and was gone,
the stars shimmering like radiations of a pond,
that dissipated as if his space evacuated,
leaving an impression;
and humanity pondered the words,
how very absurd.

Then, as if orchestrated, they just left,
their thoughts bereft of reason,
and in moments forgot
that hooded monk of the stars,
a seer that had nothing to say,
and in the human way, they ignored.
