That Tree Upon the Knoll

A mild wind rustles leaves,
their random turning
as if to honor the sky above,
and their melody
like a million chimes resound,
in waves of song.
Bows creak under strain,
those tiny leaves like sails on a high sea,
and birds perched upon those bows
ride the undulations,
their feathers fluffed out
like grey ball decorations they abound.
Upon a knoll this tree in yearning reach,
stands tall to beseech the sun,
and lonely atop a green grass mound,
where blades shudder in breeze delight,
touching each other as if their selves,
a duality of symbiotic life.
As creatures small weave their day
amid these green giants, pathways and trails
to food and nests deep under ground,
their glowing life beneath that wind,
a background hum that emotes life
and everything.
And sky looks down, profound
the manner of life in corners of the mind,
filled with living creatures,
movement and sound,
humming in crescendos symphonic,
sweeping hearts, soft and loud.
As sun arcs its way across the blue,
it too observes the rich nuances of life,
not strife but harmony is nature’s gifts,
a swift and benevolent ensuing,
that all abide in moving with the flow,
except of course humanity.

“except of course humanity”, how sadly true that is. Nature is so in tune with harmony and the songs burst forth when we are still and listen. Such a peaceful, lovely day you have given us, Tony. Thank you for these moments of beauty.
Pleased you enjoyed the sojourn Phyllis, if only humanity would listen. take care.
