No Answer At All

For the want in life,
we struggle for our desires,
pedestal them to vastly overrated moments,
and then strive as if death were in hot pursuit,
life so fleeting our last moments moot,
as we traverse our chosen needs,
what seems most important
and leads us to contentment.
Yet desire is a travesty,
an admission of unhappiness,
always desperate to appease our afferent wants,
the pleasures of flesh and winning
the measure of our perceived value,
but happiness is less problematic
if we decide that sought experience is not the key,
deciding to be happy, pure simplicity.
The striving is like a machine,
fueled by a mixture of need,
when accomplishment is the doing,
never the result or the seed of success,
as when we achieve we soon appreciate it less,
then, what else needs to be sought,
the cycles of want never to be final,
just transitory.
All human suffering comes from wanting,
whether that is circumstance, wealth or status,
and the remedy is appreciating what we have,
finding happiness in our hearts
and being kind to all life, including ourselves,
to not deem it necessary to suffer the loss
of what we may not have,
just to find it no answer at all.

For the want in life,
we struggle for our desires, – this is so me Tony. I enjoyed this very much.
Glad you related Kurt, appreciate the comment my friend. Cheers!
“Pure simplicity” – so easy yet we often forget. Your last verse, Tony, really settles nicely in mind and heart. Well done, great piece.
Pleased you enjoyed it Phyllis, thank you and have a great day!
