Lessons of Forgiveness

I am trapped in a world of malice,
my kindred souls and I,
and it seems the price of kindness,
from where disdain comes, echoes as if past,
and I often wonder why; I stay true,
I rarely find contention of any use, yet
contention finds me,
the brunt of others ill-will and spite,
taking what they can from me,
what relationships I treasure,
what love I have given,
trounced upon in such utter spite
and malevolence.
The lesson must be mine,
perhaps to forgive these souls,
and let go their darkness,
tethered as I may in their very thought;
and so I have, let them go,
as calm now pervades my being,
forgiveness the blade that cuts those tethers;
and I feel sorry for their malicious hearts,
so lost in jealously and ineptitude,
they can never see what love is,
what compassion or even kindness offers,
and now I just wish them well
on their way, as we choose our paths
you and I.
I shall not be entreated by hatred,
any vile dark judgement that taints a soul,
as I am for love alone,
and we all face challenges,
some less able to cope than others,
as in facing the disdain of others,
I stay strong, never doubt my intent,
but its hard to be vilified,
seen to be what we are not,
when we know the truth,
even though others refuse it’s recognition,
and I must bare the burden
of what havoc they cause,
for they do not know better.

To forgive is something we all need to learn lest the hurt and pain destroy us. Kindness and love is what we need to hold on to for growth and peace. A very important life lesson you have so well penned, Tony.
Much appreciated Phyllis, yes I’m being stretched at present to release me from the malice of people. It is so necessary to forgive and let go. Cheers!
If ever I can help, my dear friend … Take care.
Sincerely thank you Phyllis, just mine to go through. My advantage is I understand and I’m aware of how to respond. It’s just sad. Take care.
