It’s Over, Let It Go

Just let it go…
The musk
a dull reminder of past,
imbued yet stalled,
for what it once meant,
and now redressed in truth,
as for all its enticing afferent allure,
it must be now tinged with regret,
as a tainted love remiss.
What once provoked, now
as words unspoken,
leave the heart slightly broken
in a sorrow filled state of loss,
burned of sweetness,
burdened by bitter notes
and the harsh reality
of blatant steel rejection.
Acrid that scent becomes,
as a bloodied battlefield,
stench of death
and love burned to a crisp,
as all memories, corpses,
still and lifeless,
gored beyond recognition,
as disdain only remains.
Filed away,
password coded,
the waste a lingering haunt,
yet pain keeps memories dull,
and love in a sealed led box,
to withhold the radiation,
as if life hadn’t fallen,
and a fresh future awaits.
Draws close, objects kept from view
as past buries itself,
far from the hurt and alerted
to stay that way,
as love cannot be rewritten,
just deeper driven into the grave
as we in pained dismissal,
leave the day, seeking new dawns.
