If Only I Were Ignorant

And here’s to all the blind, ignorant souls
who walk the earth oblivious,
see not the beauty or the ugliness
just the rise when grasped by contention;
and they drift like wood upon a turbulent sea,
no wave too big, no horizons to see,
just a game of taking care of me,
and storms to those who cross their plans,
contentment all they ever see,
and who cares about those who care not for me?
Wouldn’t it be sublime,
to have no burdens, no thoughts awry,
just a dumb, imbecile like detachment with reality,
the darkness of harsh truths,
excused due to a lack of interest,
and I’d be sipping cocktails
on a beach of no concern,
learning nothing, feeling nothing
but the warmth of sun,
and wondering if the sky will ever fall.
Blissful ignorance has its allure, and
the struggle of reality procures a sense of doom,
and being brain dead could have a place,
in a fairyland of colored misplace,
lost in dreams where rainbow unicorns
frolic in pink grasses,
where yearning is given five star passes,
and life is what we want,
nothing like it is, or has been,
in the burden of awareness.

It would be blissful to float through the days with no worries or cares. Unfortunately, kind and caring souls who love all forms of life, are aware and enlightened have so much often swirling through the mind. I so understand your thoughts in this verse, Tony. It is very well penned emotive. Well done.
Thanks you Phyllis, glad you appreciated my musing. Take care my friend.
