To Face the Enemy, Eye to Eye

To Face the Enemy, Eye to Eye
To Face the Enemy, Eye to Eye

Reticence is laced with fear,
fear in turn, laced with imaginations wrath,
as imagination, a doubled edged sword,
our fondest dreams or darkest nightmares,
abhorred in their mere possibility.

We abide within our instinct to survive,
fear, a trigger to flee or fight,
yet in our creative minds so fanciful,
we contrive beyond the apparent plight,
and fear becomes untenable.

So often fear amasses,
grows to almighty girth and burden,
and dealing with it uncertain,
as its choice affects our future
and we tremble within its insidious shadow.

Yet for all these fears,
we end up limited beyond belief,
so burdened we can’t believe we’re free,
and life becomes a four-walled cell,
in darkness of our encrypted possibility.

Fear may be a red flag waving,
yet for it to override our reason
and dictate our seasons of ebb and flow,
forgoes our freedom to live and learn,
and restricts every whim and want.

To be brave, face contention, face the self,
is all we can do in life,
to balance all that in potential can bring us down,
resound in our hearts to live,
not hide from any aspect of being
that challenges us.
