Betrothed to Life

Betrothed to life, to honor and obey,
till death alters paths
and ascension the purpose,
enlightened I pray,
as the deeper I delve
into the veils of delusion,
the truth becomes known
and in place of restitution,
a sigh of relief for my lost concerns,
my freedom of heart
and my un-tethered soul
in earning the knowledge of being.
No relationship offers more,
than to be at one with yourself,
where thoughts manifest,
where dreams project,
and bitter pills I outright reject,
to remain my confidant,
my own voice of reason,
no matter the season,
I can rely upon me, to see,
not shrouded in lies but in balance,
for all that I know,
from sight and what I’ve sewn.
Life and I have an understanding,
we discuss our problems
and not withstanding
the pain that ensues,
when I forget the ruse
of an ego’s self-righteous plays,
a momentary lapse in my day,
and the stern recompense
that snaps me back to truth,
when I apologize
and honor my partners hopes,
that I will learn and comply.
Sweet melodies of lilting truths,
keep me bound to reality,
and I accept my impropriety,
a lowly human with much to learn,
to discern my paths
and respect the womb
from whence I came,
and accept and feel gratitude
for all I gain in feeling
and experiencing life.
