As Selfless as the Sunrise

As Selfless as the Sunrise

Sunrise…

Until certain, romantic love
is a delusion I cannot abide,
for so many clothed in their chosen masks
forever employ the lie,
as honesty is rarely seen,
the shadow of their truths and careless dreams,
seeking needs fulfilled, not selfless love
their dreams of gain instilled.

Love lives in my house, like air that I breathe,
and all life I see as worthy,
when the self is but connection,
not the center of the dream,
for love has no boundaries, no limits,
and romantic love has intentions and needs,
that without a selfless giving,
falls quickly to its knees.

So I wait without expectations,
in love with life and existence,
and if romantic love appears naked, without deception,
I will fall like a stone in the flow of life,
but know, I know love, its every whim,
so I’ll not be lost in anything,
without the sharing that love provides,
as selfless as the sunrise.
