Walk Away Without a Backward Glance

Just walk away, that’s what I’m told

It sounds so easy to do

But how do you turn away

From the one that found your heart?

Granted, it was only a small part

But you were the first to really reach it

So was I a fool to believe you?

Believe you when you say you care,

That you think about me, that you miss me?

You’d think that I’d have learned my lesson

I’ve been fed those lines time and time again

Well, I guess the time has come

For me to walk away

Just one foot in front of the other

Without a backward glance. . .

Nicely penned Shannon and so true, at some point we have to admit we’ve been used and the truth was not what we wished. For ourselves, for our esteem and sanity, we must learn to walk away. Well done.

I wonder, though, how many people actually set out to intentionally use someone else.
