The Words of Thought

The Words of Thought
The Words of Thought

A tenuous hold on thought displays
a vacant confusion, beyond the scope of reason,
as thoughts like balloons lose their tether
and launch into the vast void of sky,
soon lost in distance and colors faded to but a point,
like a full stop without sentence.

When reason loses purchase,
then thoughts scatter like ants from a nest,
direction-less ragged courses of flight,
and none to stay at rest,
to qualify or guide a thought to resolve,
just irrational observation of the fading of words.

As a mind assembles words to express,
thoughts barrage the mind,
as if breaking free from imprisonment,
vying, contending and struggling to rise,
to find and fulfill a thought released in speech,
a rational breach of expression.

Tenuous what we assume and for granted take,
how thoughts transfer and interrogate,
until reason is reached and words gathered in release,
and we connect in thought with another,
aspire to understand and meld our thoughts
with reason.

But what of those who cannot join those thoughts,
cannot gather words to enrich their lives
with outpouring, with reason’s ply
to connect with the minds of others,
and in thoughts contrived begin to understand,
what speech can do for mind.

Sentient minds, assume and know so much,
yet do they appreciated the stuff of fools,
who cannot like they parade
a wealth of words and thoughts to say,
exactly what they want to,
and thoughts like screens in front of eyes,
are clear and radiant of all their lies, in perpetuity.

How scattered are our thoughts,
when all are on account,
to rationalize our mind
and how we speak what words to us are kind
to those of lesser keep?

Well this is thought-provoking, Tony. 🙂 When a kid I often wondered where thoughts come from and where they go. My Dad always had quick answers to questions, and I asked a lot. I spent a lot of time with Dad in his work shop where he was always building something. He told me our thoughts are stored in “our bank upstairs” till they need to be spoken, and sometimes when spoken they just float around till they anchor in someone else’s bank. It took me a long time to figure that out. I enjoyed reading your verse, I understood it quicker than Dad’s explanation. But, like you, Dad had his own way of making me think. Very good and nicely phrased expression.

Thought provoking indeed Tony. Thoughts are not somethings you have a shortage of expressing here my friend, they are your best friends, your confidants, your released balloons, never holding back. They explode from your beautiful mind, like falling stars to earth. Exploding like an inferno forever wanting to be released through your magnificent pen. A vocabulary of torrential insights only given to those whose minds welcome them. I am not as abundantly gifted to express as you my friend. Yet simple a mind I have, the spirits play with my psyche in merriment and eventually pleasure me with a few thoughts now and then. I attempt to miserably lay them out in some semblance for my readers to absorb without thinking this poet of insane nature. So humbly I accept my madness and pen without apology. You sire have a unique mind, one worthy of exploring. Thankfully you share your soul with many of us here and for that I am very thankful indeed. BRAVO-KUDOS, wonderfully penned.
