Tending the Garden
Tending the Garden
Friendship is a flower that blossoms and grows
It radiates from within with a beauty that shows
Even flowers that are different are still the same
Each with friendship as its only name
With a little tender loving care
The bloom becomes a delight long to be shared
The garden must be cultivated with love, though
Careful not to neglect lest that stunt its growth
Tending the garden may at times seem so effortless
With little food or water needed to achieve its excellence
Other times a little extra care is needed
In order that it not be weakened and that the bad be weeded
And so that the beauty can be restored
To a flower, as before, once more adored
It’s all a delicate kind of balance, a dance
That usually gets its start by nothing else but pure happenstance
But regardless of how or why it starts
It has the potential to remain deeply planted within the heart
Love’s most precious flower bed
There, where even more beauty can always be bred
Because if those roots are planted firmly enough
Friendship never dies; it simply rises above

A fitting metaphor for friendship and its nurturing and maintenance. Nicely penned and enjoyed Shannon.
Glad you enjoyed it.
A lovely garden of friendship. I really enjoyed this, Shannon. It is very well done.
Thank you.
