Open Wide

Open Wide

Ah, yes – I made you mad, I see

I would say, “Stop all this absurdity!”

But, what a sight I too must be

Yet, it’s alright, it’s okay, come whatever may

The sad truth is – it will only happen again one day

Because sometimes I just can’t control the things I say

And it’s too late to take them back once they have occurred

Oh, dear I might get stung – how dare the hornets’ nest I stir!

Exaggerated, exasperated, although thoroughly unsaturated words!

Oh, my – how they manage to pour forth

Might as well pack me up – send me riding on a horse

Or tie me down, tape my mouth – might that then enforce

The silence that really should abide

Oh, no, no – that won’t do, good intentions set aside

You might as well say to me, “Prepare to open wide.”

While any shred of pride has already gone kaput

So, I’ll go ahead, I’ll open wide – just insert that foot

I only have one request – please be careful where it’s put!

A common mistake many of us make, when the mouth just lets go, no filter, just a thought bearly thought, cascading from the lips to cause a stir. Great work Shannon.

Yes, and then sometimes all you can do about it is laugh. Although, there are times the ripple effect is much more serious.

Very good insight to how some people can just spiel out words without thinking first. It happens often and many people do it. None of us are perfect. Very good piece, Shannon. Well done.

Everyone does it at sometimes, I think. Usually in anger or other excitement, but sometimes things just tumble out before we clearly form the thought or the right words to articulate it.
