Does Life Ever Take a Breath? I’m Weary

Where do we turn,
when life turns its own way,
and we, in a lonely ride of compliance,
hold on for survival, weary;
and to what thought do we owe,
the heart bestowed, to hang on
despite the gravity of parlous affront,
the dragging of circumstances lumped
upon us?
Have we any say, any reply
to life’s often surging tsunami streams,
battered and half-ended,
drawn to the breaching of acceptance,
yet having no attenuation, no relenting
and still standing,
regardless of the power of omniscient will,
the journey sought,
the pain instilled?
A cork on a restless sea,
drowning not, but tossed in turbulent days,
blurred my vision of life in frantic sway,
I can but breathe every other breath,
to sustain this raw undulating life,
and duck and weave the strife
that adds to my malaise,
my weary days in dins unwanted,
what I’m confronted.
Does life ever take a breath?

Life continues on, never stopping to take a breath – but, we can take deep breaths when it is time to reflect and look within. When one can see that a change of heart in another has left us with no alternative but to go on without the one we so love, then go on we must. Life has meaning and it is up to us to fulfill it, with all the love and caring we possibly can. If love turns away to another we cannot hold on to it, it must follow its own path. I, too, am weary. Great piece, Tony.
Glad you appreciated it Phyllis, and yes, we must go on for that is our paths. Cheers!
Tony,
I second this thought; I thoroughly agree. Yet, the passion I have for certain people, and also goals, keep me driving on 🙂 But, still…sometimes I ask, and speak the same things which you have done so eloquently in your poem.
I suppose my thoughts do not whirl around through my head with quite the same finesse, as do your own exquisite words here, though. Your talent is much more than plenty, so… maybe a bit of it might flow onto me? I’m sure you wouldn’t miss it; you’ve got tons, after all. Hmm.
Too kind Tamara, and if I could share whatever is my talent then I would freely. So glad you enjoyed the thoughts and expression here, and I so appreciated you support and kindness. Take care my friend.
No breaths just pressing on, and if you don’t jump on board you may be lost in that endless sea that continues on like life. Boy do I wish it would though. I think we all need a break from life right now. Excellent piece my friend.
Much appreciated Paul, yes a break would be nice. Cheers!
