Beyond the Self…Dream into Reality

Beyond the Self...Dreams into Reality
Beyond the Self…Dreams into Reality

What thoughts transcend the self,
flighted sentiments
that leave our petty considerations
and find meaning in themselves,
within the open skies of possibility,
in the vast expanse of evolving cloud,
to shout out loud I am free,
free from the sharp cornered boxes
within which they fester.

How muddied our thoughts become,
when we mull them over like chewing gum,
and the flavor just dissipates,
meaning just disintegrates,
until they loose their wings
and fall to earth, battered
and barely recognizable,
that self just manipulates,
until they’re gone.

Colored they become these thoughts,
judged and transformed to fit,
the very place we want them to sit,
fashioned to bestow,
what an ego shows,
what part in life they’ll shine,
a reflection of the mind
we want known,
for our own gratification.

Yet thoughts given freedom, fly,
soar into the endless blue sky
and in time will manifest,
grow and be nurtured
by an omniscient mind,
and as pure as a thought can be,
bless life and its worth,
as it on earth is birthed
and becomes a truth in time.

The self is a manipulator,
and it clouds perfection by attachment,
yet when we learn to allow thoughts freedom,
they, unattached, turn dreams to reality,
and we in their glory see we are a part,
yet in humility not their heart alone,
and we may feel the gratitude,
and in reverence seek reality,
to appreciate life’s intimate truths.

Oh how I love this, Tony. To give thoughts freedom to live and become what they are meant to be is so rewarding. One can ruminate till thoughts are stale and not the same anymore, or set them free like the bird in your image. You chose a good image for this piece. Great inspirational work, dear poet.
