I will hear your voice
Your slim articulating fingers draw across strings of gold and
a melody draws me near and nearer yet
I came in from the rainy walkway
in a rain suit and so very wet
still
I will hear your voice
From the stage front at the school your voice spoke of
Frost and Burns and set old emotions free
watching from the curtain left
I really just wanted to see
still
I will hear your voice
Near the park swings I heard a sob and knew
that voice but once again
I vowed right then and there to embarrass you to laugh
anyway at all to become your friend
still
I will hear your voice
In your window of falling snow on winters long eve
you take up pen and paper to bare your soul
and the words smudging in tears
as you worry of who will read it whole
still
Still I will hear your voice
And a day long ago we spoke and became lovers
you the songstress the actress a sad girl and the poet
and I but a simple man
and have we been together all this time
and still
I will hear your voice
In the day room you sat reclined a blanket across your thighs
as silver hair cascaded and a smile I well remember
yet I know not the jumbled words
it matters not for I am here
still
I will always hear your voice

Beautiful verse, Ed, full of love and memories. Very lovely.
Simply beautiful, Ed! I don’t know what else to say. Great job.
heartfelt and emotive work Ed, and I love the structure and flow of it. Well penned and beautifully rendered verse my friend. Cheers!
Just lovely. Most heartfelt and emotional.
Nice way to share the deep connection you’ve fostered over the years – thanks for sharing!
The connection between hearts will never fade away, all we have are memories, some bitter but thankfully many cherished ones too. Whenever I read or hear of a couple being together for 40, 50, 60 years it’s a testimony to their endearing love for one another through the thickest of storms. This was an expression of true love Ed and I enjoyed it very much. Well done sir.
