Superlative

How pensive the falling sky,
orange ribbons strewn
like flighted fans on high,
and I breathe the moist failing light,
feel the chill attest the sigh
of sunset’s fleeting bow to night.
So complete this transition,
this mission of silent release,
and slight of hand so smoothly melds
the sky between darkness and light
to greet those distant suns,
winking from so long ago.
One can feel
the freeing hand of oncoming night,
blessed to rest our ailing plights,
and to remedy our worries and woes
in slumber’s warm embrace, as
in dreams we may erase our petty fears.
And moon smiles with an omniscient glow,
knowing well the flow of human tears,
instead to rise in lover’s eyes with hope
that hearts will transcend all else,
and bring treasured moments felt,
to this world of troubles.
How pensive the night sky,
glittering profusions of time gone by,
and as we gaze into eternal life,
wonder captures a heart in flight
and we are warmed by faith
that our fate is sound, in this paradise of living.
I watch the shifts of time,
from golden spires to studded purple skies,
and feel with all my being
the beauty that arises in my soul,
perceiving every moment in its whole,
just knowing life commends my seeing.

Most wonderful, dreamy poetry with great imagery. Enjoyed.
Glad you did Rasma, I find it a challenge to write about the same subjects but try to discover new and fresh ways to do it. Appreciate your kind words my friend.
I think you’ve done admirably on trying a new angle Tony – this piece is refreshing as it is thought-provoking.
Glad you enjoyed it Ralph, I believe we must all continue to push ideas and new grounds, especially with poetry. So pleased you appreciated the work. Cheers!
Noone paints such beauty of the transition of light to dark and the glory of the sky, the moon, the sun, as beloved poet Tony. I know, you will say “too nice”, but I am deeply sincere.
So appreciated Phyllis, you know I deliberately keep going back to these subjects because in order for the work to remain relevant, one must find new ways and expression, new phrases and thoughts to keep it fresh. Pleased you appreciate the effort. Take care.
Yes, I do know that you revisit subjects with a new approach and it is a great idea. It does keep it fresh and instills more ways of looking at the subject matter. Very clever and well done, Tony. I am glad you do that.
