Summer of Love

Each year that passes,

brings another summer of love,

with bird choruses

and bee serenades.

Our love blossoms anew,

as the scent of flowers fills the air

and magical, colorful butterflies –

seem to be everywhere.

Each summer that comes,

makes it seem,

so much like a dream.

As if I just found you yesterday

and not in our youth.

With love so very precious,

that we share,

the years seem to be rolling back,

through all the summers we’ve shared.

so another summer of love,

has found us

and happy we can be,

just you and I,

with days filled by golden sun

and nights of soft summer breezes.

Quiet walks along the riverside,

watching the sun make glittering gems,

of the ripples upon the water.

A summer of love,

has found us once more,

making us feel as young –

like when love was something new.

It never ceases to amaze me,

that time can flow by so quickly,

but it never takes anything from us –

for you are to me always as you were yesterday.

That is something that will never change,

with you as always,

summer loving is easy,

feeling as if we are sailing,

upon the white clouds above,

enjoying fields of wild flowers.

Always making me feel as light as a feather,

as if the two of us would be,

dancing upon the summer breeze

and when the summer leaves us once more,

together we’ll spend the autumn days –

dreaming of our summer of love.

For we know that however long it may take,

once we have come through the winter snows,

flowers will bloom once again in the spring –

bringing along another summer of love.

Thank you Kurt. I was just recently feeling nostalgic and was listening to the songs from the 1960s and what they called the summer of love and it inspired.

    Rasma,

This is such a hopeful poem, and filled with the sweet scents of glorious love. Your poem reminds me of the incredibly delightful fragrances of Jasmine, Honeysuckle, and Wisteria wafting in the gentle summer breeze. Just reading your delightful words make me feel like I am in love- a summer love. Thank you for this!

Beautiful imagery Rasma, and who wouldn’t want a summer of love every year of life. I needed some sun today. Thank you my friend.

It takes me back to the 60’s as well Rasma, I can see Frankie Avalon and Annette running on the beach falling to the glistening sand and kissing tenderly embraced. Oh yeah for summer love, I remember those days of passion, my motorcycle cranked up, my gal holding on tight as we raced down the highway of love. Beautifully penned my friend.

Thank you Vincent. I can just imagine you on your motorcycle with a lovely girl behind and it brings to mind the song Born to Be Wild.
