Perseverance Serves Well

Perseverance Serves Well

Perseverance serves well
At times when a goal is needed,
And the task ahead seems
Insurmountable, a long climb,
Stretching so far ahead.

Keep going, persevere in the face
Of difficulty, remain steadfast,
Let not obstacles keep you from
The desired goal, even if there seems
To be no prospect of success.

Be persistent, determined, follow through,
Find a way to make the uphill climb
Become a satisfying feeling each time
Another difficult task
Is accomplished well.

Remember those who can help,
To offer assistance or support
When the temptation to give up
Is hammering away on the mind,
And patience is stretched to the limit.

When exhaustion overcomes
Take a break, connect with someone
Who gives love and friendship,
To help you rise above,
And know your task is done well.

I have always liked to write. It is important to me that writing comes from my heart and soul. When writing poetry, if I do not feel a spiritual connection to what I am writing on, I will discard it and go on to something I can connect with on a spiritual level. I live in the moment, I write from the past or beyond the veil. When writing fiction I go with whatever inspires me at the moment - it could be funny, sorrowful, romantic or sometimes done with the use of colloquial language from mountain folk or other cultural regions. I began writing content online in 2007, starting with BellaOnline - A Voice For Women, where I was the Native American Editor, Folklore & Mythology Editor, and the Appalachian Editor. I also wrote articles for The Examiner, Daily Two Cents, and Yahoo. I am a freelance writer for Fiverr. I am currently an author on HubPages, a member/author of the Maven Coalition, and Senior Editor and an author for The Creative Exiles. Most of what I write takes a lot of research and I love it. Even if it is a fictional story, I will research for accuracy in whatever it takes to make my characters, their era, their location, etc. become realistic to the reader. I hope you enjoy my works. Thank you for visiting.

I think we all have these feelings of frustration, tiredness, wanting to give up. Yet somehow from deep within a voice keeps telling us to persevere and keep putting one foot in front of the other. In my life, I’ve had business moments of doubts. When I started to doubt my capabilities I knew it won. I’ve always dug deep to continue the good fight. So when were down and adversities are confronting us, often a good friend we need to find, spend time with in deep discussions. They often will pull us from the edge and not allow us to fall into much of our own making, the abyss. So keep rising above Phyllis, you are the one in control of your fate. Peace my poet.

Great poem by you, Phyllis! Yes, perseverance does serve so well, even when we don’t see any positive change happening for awhile. And, you are so wise in your beautiful words about taking a break when we are exhausted; of course, you said it in such a lovely, poetic way.
