Mysteries of Time – A Trio of Thoughts

Trapped in a Moment
Tick…..
Tick…..
Tick…..
Flashes of eternity
Lifetimes surface and then disappear
Captured in the prison of time
Their existence
Trapped between the passing moments
Tick….
Tick….
Tick….
Tales never spoken
Deeds never honored
Their commonalities
Lacking memory
Tick…
Tick…
Tick…
Listening silently
Searching for something
A name, place, or anchoring point
Tick..
Tick..
Tick..
Invisibility
Perpetually
Tick.
Tick.
Tick.
Hidden within the depths of time

Time Honored
Honor
Granted by time
Length and depth and breadth
As if tradition could be measured
Sized, or controlled
Conventional, classical, customary
Acknowledged, approved, and accepted
That which has standing
Should never be seated
Or asked to leave
Oh how the naysayers object
Defying traditions
Long since embedded
Entwined with the roots
Displayed on the leaves
Values
Unlike those measured in currency
Not lost, but dormant
Only hidden
In cerebral passageways
Ways of the old
Revived when hardship pays a visit
And stays for a while
Passageways morphing
Into superhighways
Cyclical observations
Peril passing
Traditions and values
Shelved, but not forgotten
Until another day

Watching the Clock
Spending
Life’s currency
Valuation
Unmeasured
Ignored
Until the end
Only then
Do we watch
The sweeping second hand
Round and around
Never stopping
Never slowing
Mind calculating
Theories generating
Moments of eureka
Followed by uncertainty
Insecurity
Until the finality
Moments from midnight
Empty wallet
Empty bank account
Time spent
Wondering where it went

It is amazing there are so many ways time is a part of our lives. Oft we do not think about time, then there are times when it dominates our life. Our deeper inner spiritual life does not experience time but instead experiences changes in state or being.
It is also amazing, Ralph, how many thoughts you bring up on the word ‘time’. I love articles that make me think deeper. Well done, Ralph.
We seem to forget that time is the most valuable thing we have and yet still so many people waste it and then regret it later. Thanks !
The enigma of time, a subject with endless musing, as to its complexity and the many perspectives taken. here you show so nicely many aspects as it effects we humans. Thought-provoking and masterfully penned Ralph. Very much enjoyed my friend.
