My Purpose Whole

My Purpose Whole
My Purpose Whole

In grace I accept those finite beats,
used up one day to cease,
and while this mind imbues the world
with all it does believe,
I shall seek with ardor
to discover better ways to be,
and enrich this world and our hearts
with blissful understanding,
to raise minds to higher thought
and happiness sought
where it lives, within the self.

Endless veils abstract life,
sight so smeared and tainted,
for truth exists one step from self,
its purity irrefutable, sated,
when we in selfless state can grasp it,
face it to relinquish our biased eyes,
we free ourselves to possibilities,
our limits so despised,
for all we want is to love and be loved,
to follow chosen paths of experience
and find purpose within.

No other path is worth the struggle,
no other path can furnish bliss,
other than the peace within a mind,
the shedding of earthly pursuits
for the sharing of a soul, remiss
if we do not attest this truth,
for we will be swallowed by greed
and the false clothing of ego,
to go nowhere else
but a single tangent of futility,
an empty life of ambiguity.

In grace I accept this hearts fading beats,
and profoundly happy
in my belief of ascension in thought,
kindness in deed and compassion
for those lost to the sway of physical life,
unknowing the happiness of understanding,
baring all to oneself and the world,
for we are what we are
and imperfection just a start,
in heart and soul
the art of being, my purpose whole.

To traverse this life in ambiguity is a state of mind for many, utter confusion as to their being, why are we here and more. I simply wanted to leave a mark of kindness to others, that I tried to be the man most wanted me to be, yet not to live my life for others. What more can we as humans evoke other than perpetual LOVE for one another. Indeed we are going through trying times, our world is unstable, in conflict and people are more in tune to self, with greed and lust, yet between those superficial cracks lay goodness in us. We have to look harder to find it though. I agree with your conclusion Tony-“for we are what we are
    and imperfection just a start,
    in heart and soul
the art of being, my purpose whole.”

Peace my brother, your are being read and heard.

Your poem pulled me up after posting my own with a very different focus. It flowed from purpose to warning and reward. Thanks for the boost on a dreary day.

Possible edit: First verse, line three, “minds”. It tripped me up as plural, but I may be misreading.
