This Grudge
Why do you choose to hold this grudge?
What purpose does it even serve?
Just to hurt me as it well does?
You think it something I deserve?
No point in dwelling; it’s all done
My hard feelings long since reversed
Because arguments are not won
And it’s you it mostly hurts

So true, and nothing of pain is worth holding onto, for it just tethers us to that thinking. Well penned and poignant my friend.
Tony, there’s a poem or a song or something somewhere in your reply. The wheels in my head are turning now. . .Thanks. 🙂
Indeed grudges do hurt, not knowing at the time that holding one does neither any good. In my past, I was one who often held a grudge and a seeker of revenge. I suppose it was my nature, the fight in me given to me by angry always parents. I hated to see or have done unto me a hurt that made that person feel the winner. Seekers of revenge over time wear themselves down to the point of being a non-forgiver. Thankfully for my soul and peace of mind, all of that has left me as I’ve aged. I’ve reconciled all my differences with those who may wish me harm. Ignorance is their mantra. As Tony said above, pain is never worth holding onto. We must let it fly away and nevermore cross our path for everyone’s peace of mind. Nicely worded Shannon. Peace to you my poet.
Thank you, Vincent. I heard a lot of great things about you when you were on HP and still do, although we didn’t know each other very well there. Personally, I’m terrible at holding grudges and sometimes I think I should practice holding them at least a little by keeping my distance from some people.
Well worded, Shannon. Grudges do no one any good. I love the acompanying image too.
Thank you. I had a little difficulty finding an image for that one, so I’m glad you like it.
