‘Daily Desire’
Since the creation of time the human race have been fascinated by the forces of nature and how they impact on life, love and every day lifestyles. That daily desire to allow nature’s influence determine how the past, present and future is perceived, held or revered within our respective cultures, is always consciously present to various degrees. In ancient Greece one of the greatest love affairs was that shared between the Sun and the Moon, punished by the gods to forever remain apart, except for those times of eclipse. Daily Desire is a declaration of that love first spawned by the sun and his lunar lover, remaining to this day, unseen and yet so very present across today’s world. Enjoy…
‘Daily Desire’
I am Night
Silently overpowering all denial
Your day will not prevail
A fading sun slowly sinking
deeply into the surging ocean
of your crumpled duvet
Come merge with me day
in full acceptance of lengthening shadows
Drink, from this tranquil stillness
I will wash over you
Over all paths of futile resistance
Down, down, reigning in your deepest desires
I wash over you
at these times you feel overwhelmed
Breathlessly overcome in my moonlit space
I wash over you
As only waves of fulfilled emotions can
Bathe; be quenched, refreshed and renewed
For I am Night
For ever destined to follow your day;
always to cool your fires within
Only I, am destined to wash over you
while you deeply drift into seductive sleep
Now, do you feel the power of this night’s spell?

This is a very beautiful expression of love between to lunar lovers. Without either of them, us humans would not exist. We must cherish and feed that love between the two. The ebbs and tides from the moon rouse the levels of emotions within our very souls. It’s changes alter our moods as well as our health. The sun it’s partner gives us the warmth solar rays penetrate our physical being, can’t live without vitamin D even us vegans require it;-) You have cast a shadow much needed in order for the sun to reflect it back at us. Oh yes, bring on the night, but please lord always return to us a morning sunrise too. Magnificent work my friend, truly enjoyable, your talent is beyond measure. Kudos
Hello Vincent, thank you for that very complimentary review and yes indeed love does not turn a blind eye to any individual’s culinary preferences.. Phases of the moon affect the moods and lives of water signs (as am I in both eastern (Water Dragon) and western (Scorpio) astrology) so that influence will always be inescapably reflected somewhere within the lines, or between those lines that I write. I’m glad you enjoyed this piece my friend, it was written from the heart.. take care sir.
Beautiful rendition of that great love affair, Rob. I have always been so fond of ancient Greek tales of love – and all their legends. Your poem is very lovely, endearing.
Hello Phyllis, thank you for your positive review. I’ve read a couple of your works and that fondness you are referring to certainly shines through in every respect. Great love affairs I believe should always be written about and if not subtly personalized, certainly shouted from the mountaintops. Glad you enjoyed… take care
Great to have you here Rob, and a wonderful poem of the Greek legend. The relationship between sun and moon has existed from time immemorial and has always been a topic of poetry. I love this verse, so succinctly emotive and gracefully penned. Great work my friend and welcome aboard.
Thank you so much for your positive review Tony, I’m glad you enjoyed this piece. I’ve always been fascinated by Greek mythology, legends and sublime life experiences. This piece was a pleasure writing.
Welcome to The Creative Exiles, Rob. This is a wonderful poem of the love affair between the moon and the sun. It reminds me of the movie Lady Hawk where the male turned into a wolf at night and was a man by day. The woman he loved was a hawk by day and a woman by night…they were destined to never meet as human lovers. Great job.
Hi John, thank you very much for your welcome and positive review. That movie was a goodie alright. When I initially wrote this it actually wasn’t written as a tribute to celestial bodies John, more a dedication to the attraction of opposites. Enough said my friend. After rereading it some time later I realized the similarity to the ancient sun/moon relationship. Glad you enjoyed it John.. take care
Whoa…! This is sublime, and so much so! Such rich expression!
Hahaha there is a lot between the lines Tamara . Glad you found it and enjoyed this piece. Take care
