A Truth We Must All Discover

A parody of life,
this blind aspiring to wealth,
this panicked obsession with possessions,
for what comfort do they hold,
a fleeting enjoyment,
moments gone and then?
What pleasured life is built on currency,
when love is the only commodity,
and pleasure is a fugitive experience,
its subsidence a harsh reminder,
that the heart is what lasts,
relationships a defining purpose.
Yet the world in darkened vision,
see only the provisions of physical survival,
and love a sideline expectation,
where as love is all that means,
all that defines a soul’s learning,
to a higher consciousness.
The struggle we witness, a world at war,
ideals vilified, competition breached,
is a product of self, striving for betterment,
but only in one area of life:
wealth, notoriety, power and greed,
supersedes all else in human striving.
And look what that has created,
the misery, suffering and decimation of our kind,
when love is all that lasts,
all that inspires us to learn and in spiritual ascension
overcome our basest lower selves,
to begin to understand the purpose of life.
The physical aspects of life
are simply tools of circumstance, no more,
and we in balance must find purpose,
and in that learn the giving of a soul,
to become whole within the cosmos,
and to aspire to higher thought.

I see little purpose in life without using and sharing our gifts of creativity, and without loving, giving, nurturing, supporting each other, and ever raising one’s self to a higher level of learning and spirituality. Very nice work indeed, Tony.
Glad you appreciated the work Phyllis. Take care.
I couldn’t have expressed it better myself that how Phyllis had done here my friend. Without LOVE in ones heart, its truly an empty world, sharing it, receiving it back is paramount for our sanity. For without it we are but an empty shell of existence, and there have been times when I’ve been very empty of it. I hope that I can find it again before my days are numbered here on earth. You have expressed this truth very accurately in your verse Tony, and indeed we must ALL discover it.
Glad you appreciated the thoughts here my friend. Thanks for you support Vincent. its very much appreciated. Cheers!
