There Is No Resisting
No use resisting…
She, as did her heart, reveal,
the love that could not be denied,
and in her face, the softness of a sigh,
for love transforms all,
and little known her fall,
she could not hide.
He, in delusion of control,
and she his toy for pleasure,
was just his fantasy in leisure,
and her flesh his conquest
her writhing joy his single quest,
and little else.
The more she contended with herself,
the more she fell for him,
and the more his delusion sang,
the more his heart rang, like a temple bell,
not some capture of ill-gain
but a loving sweet refrain that astounded.
And in the throws of loving,
both found center,
neither capture nor aloofness could deter,
the truth that in both hearts did stir,
and the pretense was a veil thin,
truth so close would change everything.
Eyes found truth within,
and walls fell from intention,
as love crept into thoughts, and
acceptance found purchase and resort,
and neither could refuse the love so painted on their souls,
and they fell for the first time
into each others arms, renewed.

What was it Leo Buscaglia often said? “Don’t let love pass you by – it is an incredible gift.”
This is a lovely, romantic, inspiring poem, Tony. Great work.
Much appreciated Phyllis, glad you enjoyed the work. Cheers!
