All Her Yesterdays
where did yesterday go…
She wonders where did yesterday go,
it was here, seemed like a moment ago.
the sun was in the sky,
no storm clouds about.
They were gathering,
she just didn’t know,
had no idea –
that he would just disappear.
Was it something she said,
could it have been done differently,
but it was much too late –
it must be her fate.
To go on alone in this life,
hide away her heart,
for she wanted no part,
of another love.
As the sun set low
and twilight turned the sky purple,
it seemed as if long shadowy fingers –
were clutching at her heart.
Another long night,
of wondering and thinking,
watching the red wine,
shimmering in her crystal goblet.
Perhaps somewhere out there,
he might have a change of mind,
but would he find her in time –
would the love still be so fine.
With a sigh and a sip of wine,
she closed the curtains
and began her vigil,
waiting for the new day to dawn.
As the wine slowly numbed her mind,
somewhere between midnight and the early morn,
she heard a car and saw flashing lights,
they had come to tell her he was gone.
Not just from her but from life,
while she was hurting inside,
he had been coming back –
to say that he loved her still.
It was all there they said,
the broken roses and the spilled champagne,
if only fate had not interfered
and that deep ravine.
What had he thought those last seconds,
before the car went tumbling down,
why was life so cruel –
as she placed roses on his grave.
But she knew he was watching
and would be with her,
until they could meet again –
up behind the pearly gates.

Sad tale and very touching…. awesome piece
Thank you Kurt. It was inspired by an online friend who unfortunately just lost her husband when his semi was involved in a terrible crash.
Such a sad tale, but she knows he loves her and has faith they will be together again. Very well written verse, Rasma.
Thank you Phyllis.
Well penned and sad of a lover torn from this earth too soon. Nice work Rasma.
Thank you Tony.
Such a beautiful and sad emotional roller-coaster ride you’ve taken us on with this fabulous work! I’m trying to type something between the tears that would even begin to do it justice. Bravo Madam, Bravo…..
Thank you so much RJ
I had to post this on my Facebook page – hope you don’t mind!
