Where I Choose to Daydream

Where I Choose to Daydream
Where I Choose to Daydream

To daydream…

By the water, beneath an elegant willow,
I dream my days,
the trickle of water over stone,
my mantra, my thoughts parade,
as time dares not intrude,
and I care not to disrupt this interlude,
this breath of replenishment.

The water brings me here,
as if for its own purpose,
and I so addicted to this respite,
cannot ignore these moments of disclosure,
where truth is delivered without contention
and my heart is eased,
my soul in serene perception.

Like tiny bells, the water sings and chimes,
wrapped in the silence of nature’s spell,
and within it I feel so a part
of life’s ebbs and flows,
and a burdened heart can just be here,
without purpose, just to be,
in the eye of the storm, at peace.

For me, nature is a mother’s embrace,
a consoling like no other,
and she placates my fears, my petty woes,
and brings me to balance,
where judgement falls and perspective shines,
as I am under her spell, sublime,
where all is right and in place.

Birds chirp and chatter above,
as light dances within the fronds,
and their singing is like a dream undreamed,
taking a mind to far away places,
where joy is breath and love is air,
where human woes and despair
are gently bedded in the past.

Here amid the day, I dream,
of halcyon days and futures bright,
where discontent is not understood,
and happiness is just the light of day,
night the shimmering beauty of day at rest,
awaiting morn to attest loves play,
by the waters beneath my willow.
