The Flight of Thoughts
Wanton gasping breaths,
driven hard by thoughts aloft, now
spiraling down in servitude
to gravity’s final will,
as darkness consumes this swill
of remnant and fragmented dreams,
lost to life in crash and burn display,
today and any day in fall.
How few survive this momentary flight,
a single chance, a flickered light to fade,
not grasp and in context parade,
in life’s myriad unfolding,
as flippant thoughts avails no play,
just a spark doused in ineptitude,
a life aspired to be,
fallen in the rivalry, the struggle to abide time.
Confusion reigns in minds,
reading these fragments,
these facets of thought released,
wandering fleetingly to be glimpsed,
yet in no life do they appear,
just the embers of their intentions
do appear, as a falling star,
noticed but then forgotten they are.
But thoughts of committed intention,
like eagles soar, high and decisive,
to soon land upon earth,
finding paths to expression and birthed to be seen,
as manifest they are, in lives of movement,
wants of aspiration and in dreams,
come to life as reality,
and in wonder thrive in totality.
Dark thoughts may hover in short redress,
shadowing life at their bequest,
to muddy clear waters,
and it is best we think with clarity,
forge paths of directions
not forked with questions, but straight,
so life is less anxious,
confused and reckless in its dream.

I agree with your thoughts on this. Well done, Tony. Some questions need not be asked, instead “think with clarity”, before asking unnecessary questions when the mind is confused. Great work here.
Glad you enjoyed it Phyllis. Take care.
