The Paths of Thoughts in Transition

The Paths of Thoughts in Transition
The Paths of Thoughts in Transition

Our paths of thought…

In the labyrinth of inner swill,
thoughts overlapping thoughts,
viewpoints in perspective of degrees,
a mind can be lost within,
impassioned, degraded, so complicated
we cannot fathom a truth
without the fragments of doubt
within which that path leads.

Confusion reigns in a mind open to possibility,
focus but a decision often not made,
and in those tenuous moments
of seeking a definitive response,
thoughts bleed from mind,
as if hemorrhaged,
as if memory decayed,
awaiting the rise of an affirmative.

How woeful the inner workings,
the slow assimilation of wanted response,
for often we just explicate what’s on our chest,
and answers are far from considered,
questions just evoking reply
as words are less exact and more placative,
rushed in request of time rather than
the espousing of truth.

Answers are quickly shuttled through the mind,
no target honed enough,
and considerations are sparingly given,
as words then become like ping-pong balls
bouncing on a flat surface,
a single plane of information without the clarity
of the perspectives learned and valued,
that in time could be rendered more appropriately.

I have a vivid image of words bouncing like ping pong balls. Forethought is often not present before one speaks – which can wreak havoc. I remember an old saying, something like “No sense in closing the barn door after the horses ran out.” Great verse, Tony.
