Opinions Galore, Truth Somewhat More

Who am I to say right,
when wrong may beguile a mind,
dress in finery and glimmer light,
and who’s to say
what appears right is wrong,
or what appears so wrong is right,
an opinion, a perspective incomplete,
as wrong may show a strength
that in mind may reveal a right,
and what of all the grey betwixt the two.
My head aches from all this posturing,
forthright plays of seemingly knowing,
when right may slip by us,
wrong in right clothing, just to test a will,
an arrogance that belittles us all,
when truth comes knocking at the door,
and we in definitive terms,
nod agreement to determine
what is actually true,
when we in fact, rarely know.
I have become an observer,
a quiet mouse of a listener,
to avoid that trap of false claim,
definitives attached to my name,
instead I’ll watch and consider the plays
and who’s in touch with reality,
then, when all have fallen,
I surmise the call
by offering several alternatives,
for perspective drives my thinking,
and definitive s I’ll not be inking,
simply considering.
Right and wrong live in a grey landscape,
and who am I to color it.

Marvelously penned and thought provoking, Tony. Taking a position as a listener and helping with perspectives is the best (and safest) thing to do, not always easy but very wise.
Glad you appreciated the work Phyllis. Cheers and enjoy your day!
