WORDS ON THE PAGE
accented melody of the soul …

They say there is a song in every man’s heart
Written in the lyrics of life right from the start
Lifted up by a unique, accented melody of the soul
No two alike—different for all to see and behold
With God’s blessings, the verses are so scribed
The rhyme and the reason come in stride
The Muse guides the hand and tempers the mind
As the poet scribbles forth line by beautiful line
Oh the power of the syncopated words upon the page
Mental releases of a motivated, poetic sage
Sometimes to the point; other times symbolic and suggestive
Often times heartbreaking, sad or happily festive
Such is the power and beauty of the poetic verse
For those who write, both a blessing and a curse
For they not know when or where inspiration shall call
But the words upon the page will soon rhythmical fall
The poet covers the verse as protecting a candle’s flame
Hiding them from sight until they have a name
Turning, twisting, softening each word as it is to be
Until all is orchestrated perfectly for all the world to see

I love it! It is so good to see you back here with another great poem. Thank you, Wayne.
This is a perfect description of the brainstorming, trial and error period before a masterpiece is written, such as the one you have given us here. Nice work Wayne, really enjoyed this. ~Paul
Only a poet knows the process of thought into words, so carefully rendered of heart and soul. Nicely penned Wayne.
Good to see a new poem by you, Wayne. You captured the essence of what it is to be a poet. Nice work.
