The Line is Drawn

The line is drawn,
the sand never to be the same,
the time has come,
and there’ll have to be some explaining,
for steps now breach the stillness of air,
the air we all must breathe,
and no matter what the fate,
what ensues we must understand and see,
if a beginning or end.

The ideals now shattered,
forgotten those beliefs of peace,
ideologies gone feral,
and no less than blood to reap,
Holy words so maligned to exact harm
rather that love,
cannot possibly be taken seriously,
when disaster proves alarm
and the defying of the heart.

Belief has got the better of us,
our innate will for peace quashed,
replaced by thoughts so bent and hateful,
no manner of insanity lost,
and followers walk blindly
down the paths of no return,
in God’s name their delusions,
into the devil’s fire we are thrown,
as religions lead us to mayhem.

Common sense would heal a world,
so departed from our core,
so far beyond intentions,
twisted beliefs and so much more,
if only love was resurrected,
the center of all we do,
leaving God out of it,
to prove we can be pure,
and worthy of the existence given.
