One Flame, and Darkness Must Abide

Abide the light…
A flame flickers in the still night,
radiating a sphere of rich golden light,
and in darkness it takes the stage,
an orb of such irrefutable beauty
within the woven fabric of shadows.
And when that flame dances,
caressed by air’s gentle movement,
shadows do come to life
as if the world did shake,
as a single flame awakens light to play.
Then darkness, fully breached,
that fabric broken as shadows still, arise,
a single flame the power
to compromise the night,
as stillness turns to frivolity.
One flame sits upon a table,
its candle life does open clean a door,
where darkness in surrender,
can do no more, just abide the rule of light,
that a single candle can turn the darkest plight.

I love this verse. A candle flame, one small flame, can be so comforting. When electricity goes out during a storm, that one little candle is reassuring. Beautiful verse, Tony.
Glad you enjoyed it Phyllis, yes all it takes is one small light to change the darkness. Cheers!
Great poetry. I have always looked at candlelight as giving a flicker of hope.
Thanks Rasma, glad you appreciated the work. take care.
