My Happy Place Amid the Storm

My Happy Place …

My Happy Place Amid the Storm

Happy Place …

A blanket, a dim grey brooding cover,
drawn across my hopes of blue,
misconstrued to shallow my wishes to dull repose,
and day cannot avow my deflated sigh, my place,
for sun was a dream to buy my daily countenance;
yet, what’s given is my plight,
day relent to partial night,
and now it spits in rain
as if to spite my disapproval,
another day, inclement.

Sunless, no shadows bark,
or shapes so long or mid-day stark,
when light just holds its zenith,
and I appease its balmy nod,
to shelter find and cool my moistened brow,
instead its dripping rain, a cool refrain,
and summer fades from thoughts,
now so far away,
and gloom nudges mind,
sighs in repetitious kind, resound.

So I must imbibe this change,
a cleansing mantra of autumn rain,
and as it echoes, like monks in chant,
I accept the dim and ravaged day,
to silent muse and written play,
my keyboard’s glittering letters,
enticed I am to find a better way
to raise my day to glee,
and so I’ll write my way,
and find my happy place, amid the storm.

We are anxiously awaiting summer over here, but I do enjoy those bleak sunless days when I can cozy in and focus on creativity. It is wonderful to find that happy place amidst the autumn rain. Very nice phrasing imagery, Tony. Well done.
