Gathering Stones – Creating Alternate Paths
Gathering Stones …
She’s gathering stones
Mother Nature’s scattered bones
lining her path, to somewhere
unknown
She crawls along on her hands
and knees
wondering if she’ll reach the sea…
wondering if she’ll find some clarity
People pass…
but they have no eyes, to meet
only the stillness of stones
pressed beneath indifferent feet
She travels far
to greet some kind of an end
only to find herself-
in the place, she first began…
So, she’s gathering stones
Mother Nature’s scattered bones
lining her path, to somewhere
she can grow.

Sometimes going back to the beginning can give you an added clarity that you were lacking in your initial voyage. Words of wisdom so masterfully written Mel. Nice Work~Paul

Struggles of life, each path unique to the traveler. Great phrasing, Mel. Well done.
Yes Phyllis, we all must find our own way. Thank you so much!

Lovely thoughts and idea so well rendered Mel. And both poignant and thought-provoking, as on the road to self knowledge we do but find ourselves in the end, what we are and have had at the beginning. This is a circle of life, we struggle and go full circle to know what we already had at the beginning. Which incidentally proves the journey itself the only true importance in life. Great work Mel. I love it!
Thank you Tony, yes, I nearly titled this ‘Circle of Stones’ I do so agree, the lesson is always in the journey. So glad you appreciated this little brevity.
Best,

Mel, your poetry is always a pleasure to read. This is no exception. We all need to gather stones and follow their path through life.
Thank you John, so nice to hear you enjoyed this. Appreciate the read and comment very much.
