Fear not the hunger

Fear Not …

It may preclude every other need  that propels
you onward in life
It may offer naught but an alternative
to the trials or tribulations  or strife

May there always be a hunger

It might even sneak its way in after the hours
of making love to the right one
or  show up unannounced when you stand in wonder
looking down at a daughter or son

May there always be a hunger

But not once should it rear its ugly head
when you stand by the mirror in wonder
could I have been more
or how often did I blunder

May there always be the hunger

In the end it may be  only the hunger
that will remain
Or we may have  called it  passion or drive
either way  it’s the same

May there always be the hunger

I saw once a child standing near  the swing set
to timid to try too scared to fly
and I thought take one more step my little one
look at that beckoning sky

Fear not the hunger
fear not to try

Sometime in my life, I started to write about my life journey, or in poetry, in story perhaps to sort out the missing from the found perhaps and enter them into a place of safekeeping. The soul of the writer is perhaps best described in their own words, emotions and thoughts. If these poems or stories touch something inside you then maybe I have succeeded in sharing. I will not write about my self in profile, because self isn't so important in writing. Only the journey in words and the sharing are important. Why would we say "Now about me!"... I'd rather write about life, nature, serenity ...

My goodness Ed, your poetry always touches ever gently. I am grateful to see it again. Love the refrain, ‘may there always be hunger’, eloquently crafted. So vivid, the image of the child, to bring home the message. Just beautiful! Love it!

    Best,

The hunger, which propels us all, so well described here. A powerful message!
