At the End of the Day
When the sun has gone
and the sky begins to darken,
as purple twilight comes riding in.
At the end of the day,
when at last we can get to dreaming,
to sit lovingly side by side –
at the end of the day.
Another day has said good-bye,
my mind now at peace –
from the every day.
Purple thoughts,
hazy and mild,
nothing to worry about,
as I watch the twilight –
slowly fade into the dark of night.
Someone up above,
turns on the light,
as the stars come winking –
one by one.
Soon up above,
there’s a velvety black blanket,
dotted with glittering diamonds –
shining in the night.
The night breezes,
bring the scent of lilacs,
the moon shines down like a spotlight
and I reach for the hand –
of my love.
So at first in silence,
we can sit and dream.
Then softly speak,
about our thoughts,
how our days,
together are spent,
how our nights –
are filled with love.
Soft mellow wine,
to drain away the stress of the day,
so many things we can leave unsaid,
so good to be together this way.
We sit and soon it feels so good,
another day has come to an end
and we are together –
and in love still.

Nicely penned and emotive Rasma, as always. Light and filled with warm thoughts and sentiments. Great work my friend.
Thank you Tony.
Rasma , I watch a sunset and am immediately made aware of how the sun ,at the last of its shining moments , really moves so quickly ! A reminder that life is short , the passage of time is really rapid . Thank you for this reminder that life , love and serenity is all that one has !
You welcome Ed. The inspiration for poem like this comes to me depending on how I feel at certain times of the day. The last of the sun before nightfall always makes me very sentimental.
Relaxing and serene mood your poem sets. Lovely and well penned, Rasma.
Thank you Phyllis.
Very nice piece Rasma, the sky at gloaming is gorgeous. I love when the stars begin to twinkle in the velvet sky. Very soothing piece. Nicely done. ~Paul
Thank you Paul. Also thank you for mentioning gloaming. I love that word just sort of sounds romantic and it had slipped my mind.
