As I Drift, Revelations Many

Was not the drifts of thought
in breeze of mind, that held the heart so boldly,
the afferent experience of clouds,
gliding smoothly, effortlessly
across the blue ceiling of heaven’s earth,
more the play of notes that preceded,
like siren songs of nature’s breath,
to alert a mind to the sweet caress of being,
seeing the way, in sentient grace,
a mind in release of knowing, can be,
just in consideration.
As in dreams, words and pictures form,
the dawn of new thoughts,
aloft in the warm updrafts of possibility,
languid yet a fervent display of rising,
words finding favor,
thoughts finding flavor
in that vast open field of untilled ground
we call imagination,
where ideas birth as inert wisps in time,
and then in sublime outpouring,
find scope and place.
I love that state, between dreams and awake,
floating amid thoughts and visions many,
and how clear they are,
their touch convincing, their sounds clear-cut,
yet in as much as I believe them,
by day they just fade into forgotten,
and loss is all I feel for their truths given,
lasting little longer than a sigh,
and what epiphanies have I lost,
what revelations from thoughts aloft,
did change me, and I at a loss.

In between dreams and awake, when so many revelations float in and out of our minds. I, too, love that state, which I was in just about 30 minutes ago. I sometimes think it is in the imagination that truths come to us, for in that floating state we go deeper into our creative minds. Dear Tony, must you put forth verses like this and the last one that make my mind swirl and ponder so many thoughts when I should be sleeping? Lately I have gotten into sleeping just two hours at a time, 3 if I am lucky. But, it is good to get up and read your words of wisdom – keeps my mind active and my spirit rejuvenated.
Sorry Phyllis, I just added to your sleeplessness, still drifting is nice. So stop reading and get some ‘zzzzzzz’. Sounds like you need it. Take care.
Tony – you have such a fantastic way of describing things; your readers simply float up into the amazing world you’ve depicted and glide through the tale your presenting.
Thank you Ralph, a most generous response indeed. So pleased you enjoy the work my friend. Much appreciated.
