Reflection
Dark Twin …
The mirror is a liar
because it only reveals the face.
What about the marks on her soul
that are still left ungrazed?
She applies makeup
gently on her face,
knowing deep down that
there is no remedy left.
The woman the world sees
is much different from
the one she knows.
At least one of them is as white as snow.
They are like twins,
but only one of them can be seen.
The other hides from sight,
keeping the record clean.
Strangers call her beautiful
while her close ones nod.
She is indeed beautiful,
but not in the way they know.
She hopes to find
a person who would
understand the other one,
while the dark twin waits for her turn.

Very well expressed verse on a woman with a past to hide. Well done, Abhimanyu. It is good to read your work again.
Thank you, Phyllis. You are the one who reminded me to write again.
A very interesting read here, Abhimanyu. We all have another side many don’t see.
Thank you, John.
Nicely penned and poignant as to how much we hide inside us, carried as the scars of our experience. Great work Abhimanyu
Thank you, Tony.
Abhimanyu nicely penned. Indeed the mirror can reflect two sides of us if we look deeply and carefully between its mirrored messages. Often we struggle with ourselves until we see the truths the mirror truly reveals to only us. Well done sir. I hope this lady has found acceptance with both sides of herself.
Very true, Vincent. Thank you.
