Another Trip of Ill

Yet another trip…
Pensive, quietly deliberating,
as thoughts like vultures circle aloft,
awaiting death, to feed;
and what rises to the fore,
is righteous in belief,
decisions in the grief of harsh circumstance,
a welcome change to placate
the darkness with light,
blindness with sight
to afford the recompense in deed,
that brought this malaise,
this defensive disorder from seed.
Once chosen decisions are binding,
no turning back,
words fallen from tongues,
rung dry of truth, aloof yet pervading,
and whether right or wrong,
judgement comes,
from all who are at stake,
righteous or mistakes
that create yet other paths of pain,
all in the game of life,
the good and the strife that tethers
us to a future resound.
Quietly may we consider,
all that words have splintered,
actions hurt, inhibited,
and tis well we know the recompense,
when deeds are foul
and common sense prevails,
long after the fact,
the track we trudge in repair of all we did
to tare away the arrogance we’ve held,
thinking we so right to meld
with life itself,
yet pensive do we sit, another trip of ill.

If only all the words ever spoken were kind and caring, full of love – a dream, perhaps, but it would be wonderful. Very thoughtfully penned work, Tony.
True Phyllis, not enough kindness in the world. I think kindness is the most important start to love and higher thought. Cheers!
So true, once said, the deed is done. At times, the sting of regretful retrospect. Still, all that shapes us good or ill, and hopefully encourages us to grow towards the light. Well penned Tony.
Best,
Mel
Glad you enjoyed it Mel, thank you for your kind words. Cheers!
Hindsight always 20/20. Like you said no turning back, sometimes we speak before understanding how detrimental and powerful words can be. Hopefully the lesson learned can help steer towards the good in life. Excellent piece Tony~Paul
Much appreciated Paul, so glad you enjoyed the work my friend.
