All That Really Matters

All that matters is the soul,
the essence of us in skinless vessel,
and life, so pointedly wound in experience,
so entices us to abandon the spiritual,
immersed in the hedonistic allure of afferent ploy,
self-involved gain and goals of acquisition,
that teaches us not of the reality of growth,
just the steps to temptation’s feast.

Pushing teaches no more than to push,
forcing goals to bend under will,
and we create just as much in opposition
when we force our wants to manifestation,
for it is only in quietude and stillness,
we may reconnect to the spiritual,
our real purpose on earth, to evolve through the physical,
not be bound within it.

How lost we have become,
when priorities are set for power and acquisition,
when truly our path requires understanding,
love and compassion to clothe our earthly countenance,
yet we choose the superficial,
the vesture of our journey, rather than the essence,
and in doing so create an injustice,
the recompense of which is far worse than acceptance.

Without spiritual balance,
the world in reckless abandon remains astray,
creating paths of destruction in remedy of choices made,
one circumstance just another step further away from peace,
and so it shall continue, until the soul is recognized
as the purposeful growth of humanity,
not technology, not power or wealth prevail,
but the eternal living soul, our essence.
