The Panacea for All Ills

The Panacea for All Ills
The Panacea for All Ills

I’m exhausted,
because people won’t help themselves,
are so stuck to the fears of past,
they refuse to venture into a future of any promise,
a future of opportunity and change,
where a life can be transformed, for the better.

Fear rules the world,
for what part of life is not tainted by fear,
our motivations, our aspirations all effected
and ultimately vetted by the fears of past failure,
always raising doubts to placate forward movement,
and to remain in the comfort of familiarity.

I see lives completely invested in this premise,
their lives life a turnstile, going round and round
and never reaching any destination,
just regurgitating the same circumstances and scenarios
that seem to teach them nothing at all,
as they echo in repetition.

And when questioned they defend their stagnation,
indignantly giving reason to their lives
that are not only justified but planned as they see it,
yet their delusion is so poignant,
and their self-deception complete,
for they live in a bubble of their own fashioning.

If there was one definitive remedy for this world
it would be overcoming fear, for beyond all truths,
it holds back potential more than anything else,
and creates pathways of sameness,
deeply worn paths that offer nothing
but the comfort of the known.

Fear is a nemesis of many who do not take a risk and step up for positive changes. Very well penned, Tony, and very fine work.
